In Portland Oregon a thirty-five block zone of the city – Lloyd Crossing – is going off the city grid in order to become self sustaining. This just might be the first urban zone to do so. It will have its own infrastructure to handle not just electricity but all resource systems. Thank you Portland Development Comission for sponsoring this by the way.
